🦄 Unicorner Startup of the Week: TendedBar

 ✍️ Notes From The Editors
Hope your week is off to a great start! To our Gmail users who have filters enabled (or those who have friends that do): it seems like our emails are once again being sent to the promoted tab. If this is happening to you or someone you know, move us out of promoted by dragging our emails from that tab to the primary inbox (more info from Google here).

We’re in a party mood this week. What better way to combine that with startups than an automated bar solution like TendedBar? Cheers 🥂

🔮 Our Analysis
Today, we already have automated drink machines in the form of soda fountains. Now, this automation is coming to alcoholic beverages in the form of the TendedBar. One challenge this brings is preventing underage drinking, which TendedBar has tackled through scanning licenses and ID validation through facial recognition technology. This verification system also helps the company serve patrons more efficiently, achieving its top rate of 14 drinks in one minute, according to TendedBar. Another benefit of the automated system is that the company can provide venues with detailed analytics data on what patrons are ordering. However, the company doesn’t advertise its technology as a complete alternative to bartenders, rather as a tool to free up the bartender or serve drinks at venues that don’t have space for a full bar. One thing to look out for is how the automation of beverages plays into the automation of the whole hospitality industry, and the possibility of a future where we see fully autonomous restaurants.
