🦄 Unicorner Startup of the Week:
Launch House

 ✍️ Notes From The Editors
Community is integral to building a great company and network, especially in 2022. Launch House is helping participants build that community from the beginning, which is why we’ve chosen to highlight them this week.

We want to hear from you: what are some of your favorite startup communities and residence programs? Reply letting us know and we’ll feature some of the top responses.

Communities for ambitious builders

Launch House is building programs for ambitious people to collaborate and make life-long connections. It offers three monthlong programs including Launch House (for founders), Hack House (for engineers), and Venture House (for investors). Depending on the program and the dates, it can take place in either Launch House’s houses in Los Angeles and New York, or online in the metaverse. During each program, participants attend tailored events and office hours, get connected to the Launch House community, and optionally live at Launch House. Afterwards, participants can become Launch House members to stay plugged in to the community.

🔮 Our Analysis
Walking into Launch House for the first time is a memorable experience. Between the resident activity, the lively events, and the bright neon Launch House sign in the middle of it all, it’s hard not to feel the energy of the unique community Launch House is trying to build. Indeed, this was how we felt when we visited last summer, not too long before the company announced its seed round in August 2021. While Launch House isn’t the only co-living program for ambitious builders out there (nor is it the first), it stands out for two reasons. First, its highly-tailored programs are almost like a combined accelerator and co-living opportunity, allowing each person to have a pretty flexible Launch House experience. Second, the lasting community and event access included in its membership can prove to be valuable, as it did, for instance, with Bookface for Y Combinator for instance. More recently, the expansion of its programs remotely into the “metaverse” has opened the door for others to participate without having to relocate. Is it all sustainable, though? Community-based programs and startups are thriving, and if Launch House positions itself correctly, it too will take advantage of that trend. Per SEC filings, the company is also raising a $10 million VC fund to invest in companies, so there are many possibilities for what lies next.
